Mapitat claims that they took everything annoying about other rental websites, scrapped it, and created their own amazing tool that helps people find their next place to live. Users can use the Mapitat application to quickly locate rental units in their price range, with the right number of bedrooms for them and pin them onto a map as a favorite so they can see where their potential next homes are located. Users are presented with a map which pinpoints the locations that fit into their search criteria. They can then drill down to the location, view the individual rental properties and see the specifics about the location like how much the monthly rent is, how many square feet there is and any other special features or pictures that might be available. As of 2012, Mapitat is only useful for those searching for locations in San Francisco and Toronto.

Mapitat was developed by Toronto-based Playground. Playground is a digital media creative agency who works to hire or develops some of their own projects, Mapitat being one of them. Their team consists of about a dozen individuals.

Mapitat makes it easy to locate an amazing rental unit through its simple to see and understand filtering options. Unfortunately, the app only supports people looking in the San Francisco or Toronto markets. Mapitat has a nice and easy way to mark locations as favorites and develop a list of potential properties. Since there is no registration process at this time, it may be difficult for users to access their information from another computer, or in the future. Mapitat is ideal for a one time search and gather mission when it comes to finding a new place to live.

The app is very responsive and the design is very well polished and professional. Definitely not an amateur design team here.

Users can simply go to the Mapitat page and start searching right away. There is no registration required. Favorites are stored via cookies and so if user's clear those out or begin using another browser they will lose them.
